Polling parties get into business

SHILLONG: The first batch of polling parties will leave for their respective polling stations on Wednesday in view of the upcoming Assembly election in the State on February 23.

Chief Electoral Officer P Naik on Tuesday informed that the first batch of polling parties is leaving early since some of the polling stations are located in far-flung and hostile areas.

Each polling party will consist of four officials along with the security personnel.

Half of the total 2485 polling stations across the State are either hyper sensitive or sensitive.

The Election Department is also scheduled to start distributing photo voting identity slips from Wednesday.
