Top official arrested for misuse of funds, suspended

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Non-Conventional and Rural Energy Development Agency (MNREDA) Project Director JE Rodborne was on Thursday arrested and subsequently suspended for allegedly forging the signature of MNREDA Director Jopthiaw Lyngdoh and misappropriation of Rs 1 crore from the projects which had not been implemented.

The Project Director was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the MNREDA Director.

Official sources on Friday informed that the accused had forged the signature of the MNREDA Director in relation to a project for setting up of 70 SLV stations across the State amounting to Rs 88.87 lakh.

Meanwhile, a source also mentioned that this was not the first time that the accused had committed similar crimes. The source informed that recently, Rodborne had submitted a utilization certificate for installation of 170 solar power plants in different villages amounting to Rs 1 crore.
