SHILLONG: Union Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs, Vayalar Ravi, on Friday said that his Ministry will launch a programme exclusively for the Northeast aimed at empowering the youths of the region to take up jobs overseas.

“We are going to start a skill development programme for the Northeast job seekers beginning with Guwahati which can help the unemployed youths of the region to get jobs abroad,” Ravi told The Shillong Times.

“What we are looking at is the skill development of the jobs seekers of the Northeast in various fields, which would be employment oriented in the context of emerging job opportunities outside the country,” the Minister added.
