Kharshiing calls on Hopingstone

SHILLONG: John F Kharshiing, Chairman, of Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, called on HSPDP legislator Hopingstone Lyngdoh to know his party’s stand on the instrument of accession and annexed agreement of August 17 1948, and handed over a copy of the white paper on Khasi States which they had sourced from the old records from parliament stating the unique status of the 25 Khasi States.

The White Paper on the Khasi States was placed before the then Constituent Assembly (Parliament) during 1949 by Sardar Valabhai Patel, Deputy Prime Minister, in-charge, Ministry of States (now known as Ministry of Home Affairs)
