New Delhi: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma landed in the national capital on Thursday night to get the list of Cabinet ministers approved by the Congress high command.

Coinciding with the arrival of the Chief Minister, several Congress legislators and supporting Independent MLAs, aspiring for ministerial berths, also arrived in the Meghalaya House here. Few more like former Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh are landing here on Friday.

AICC general secretary in charge of Meghalaya, Mukul Wasnik, and other AICC leaders along with Dr Sangma will go through the list first.

A meeting with Sonia Gandhi or her formal approval is expected on Friday or the day after, following which the Chief Minister would return to Shillong.

Most of the Congress ministers in the previous Congress-led MUA Government are likely to be retained in the Cabinet. But there is the likelihood of new faces being accommodated including Deborah C Marak, Zenith M Sangma, Sniawbhalang Dhar/ Comingone Ymbon, Martin M Danggo and Clement C Marak.

The Council of Ministers would be sworn in only next week since Governor RS Mooshahary is also out of station. The Governor also arrived here earlier in the day.
