SHILLONG: The Registrar Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal, Delhi High Court, sat here on Thursday to discuss the issue of declaring the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) as an unlawful association.

Sources informed that Superintendents of Police and Deputy Commissioners from all districts of Khasi-Jaintia Hills including Ri Bhoi were heard in the tribunal on Thursday.

All of them also filed their respective affidavits.

It is learnt that the tribunal will hear all the points brought before it and will then decide whether the ban imposed on the HNLC should be extended or not.

The HNLC is a product of a 1992 split in the then Hynniewtrep Achik Liberation Council (HALC), the first tribal outfit militant of Meghalaya.
