SHILLONG: In a surprising case, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) on Sunday detained a boulder-laden jeep driven by an 11-year-old boy without any adult supervision at Mawroh-Sanker junction here.

According to East Khasi Hills Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Stephen A Rynjah, the 11-year-old boy was driving the boulder-loaded jeep (ML 05 D 6745) with his younger brothers sitting beside him.

Police have taken the father of the minor, Korti Lyngdoh Nonglait (60) of Mawlai Mawroh into custody for allowing his 11-year-old-son to drive the jeep.

“Interestingly, when enquired, it was found out that Nonglait possessed no driving license and no documents pertaining to the vehicle”, Rynjah said while questioning the transport department for the anomaly.

The vehicle was spotted at Sanker junction in Mawroh.
