Inauguration
D P Wahlang, Commissioner & Secretary, Information Technology and Health will be inaugurating the RNCTP certified Line Probe Assay-Drug Susceptibility Testing Laboratory at Nazareth Hospital on March 15 at 9 AM. Archbishop of Shillong diocese, Rev Dominic Jala will grace the ocassion. This laboratory would be the second certified laboratory in the North East and the first in a catholic institute of the country.
Convocation
The 26th convocation of IGNOU will be held in April. All successful students who have not received the application form can collect the same for applying for the original certificate from the office of IGNOU, Regional Director between 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.
Concert
North Eastern Service, AIR Shillong will be broadcasting a live western music concert from U Soso Auditorium on March 15 from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm on 60.36 Mtrs also on additional FM 100.1 Mhz .Notable bands like Withred, Fringes,Colours and others will participate in the show.
Ordination
The Ri Bhoi Catholic Centenary Celebration Committee will conduct a priestly ordination of Deacon G Jalong and organise a closing ceremony of the Centenary celebration on March 17 at Umbuda field, Nongpoh at 9am till 3pm. The parking arrangement for VIP vehicles will be at Umbuda field, heavy vehicles at Umbuda stadium and St Paul’s School compound and parking for light vehicles at Congress office compound and road side of Umduda village, internal road.
Programme
The office of the general manager of the district commerce and industries department, Jowai will organise an awareness programme on the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme scheme on March 14 at Muktapur at Satpator Elaka from 1pm onwards.
Handloom expo
A special handloom expo was inaugurated by registrar of Cooperative Societies-Meghalaya, D Vijoy Kumar at All Saint’s Cathedral premises here on Wednesday. The event is sponsored by the development commissioner for handlooms, Government of India and organised by the Meghalaya Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts cooperative federation Ltd, Shillong.
