SHILLONG: After their recent outing in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers in Myanmar, India jumped up 24 places to 143 in the latest FIFA rankings released in Zurich on Thursday.

Although India lost to hosts Myanmar in the last match of the group 0-1, they had earlier defeated Taiwan and Guam to improve upon their ranking.

India are now behind the Caribbean island nation of Barbados and ahead of tiny West African republic, Gambia.

This is the country’s highest ranking since ending 2010 in 142nd spot.
