Programme to strengthen co-operative movement held

 NONGSTOIN: A one-day Motivational Programme on the theme ‘Cooperative Enterprise for a better tomorrow’ was organized by the office of the Sub Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Mawkyrwat at Ranikor C&RD Block on March 12 where more than 200 participants including Self Help Groups, Youth, women and village council cooperative members took part in the day long programme.

The objective for organizing the Motivational Programme was to motivate the people of the area on the important role that cooperative plays in a society and to strengthen the cooperative movement under South West Khasi Hills District.

The Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Shillong, R Kharmujai attended as the chief guest at the inaugural function while the Sub Registrar of Co-operative Societies Mawkyrwat, M Marbaniang presided over the meeting.

Later in the interactive session, the participants were informed of the various issues pertaining to the improvement of cooperative societies in rural areas for the benefit of the people in the long term basis by the resource persons.
