Gangtok: Prayag United, fresh from their IFA Shield triumph, decided to reach Gangtok less than 24 hours before their I-League match against United Sikkim on Saturday.
But being in match practice and after playing a high-intensity final just a couple of days back in the IFA Shield, Prayag coach Elco Schattorie decided to give his players a break.
United Sikkim have won only one of their 20 matches and are occupying the penultimate spot in the points table.
Asked whether Prayag are taking USFC too lightly, United Sikkim coach Nathan Hall sounded diplomatic.
“Obviously they had a demanding schedule and I understand that they want a rest. I am sure they are not underestimating us and they have the ability to do well while travelling,” he said.
Then he gave a bit of a warning to Prayag.
“I hope they are not underestimating us because my boys will be running hard tomorrow. If they think that they can defeat us by even playing 75 percent of their capacity, they are in for a surprise. We really play well in our homeground,” said Hall. (UNI)
