West Jaintia Hills sports meet ends

 SHILLONG: A “Year of the Youth” sports programme, conducted by the office of the District Sports Officer, West Jaintia Hills, concluded in Jowai on Wednesday.

The disciplines conducted were basketball, volleyball, badminton, and carrom.

In men’s basketball, Ladthadlaboh emerged as winners, with Amlarem finishing runners-up.

Mookyrdup and Thadlaskein finished first and second in the women’s event, respectively.

Laskein claimed the winners’ trophy in the men’s volleyball, with Shangpung coming second.

In the individual sports, Mebanker Shullai won the men’s badminton event, defeating Ram Najier.

Balashembha Passah finished first among the women, with Wandaka Passah second.

Patiently Pohtam and Markipaia Suting won the men’s and women’s carrom event, respectively.

Pyrkhat Shylla came second in the men’s event, with Sweety Lakiang taking the runner-up award in the women’s carrom.
