BSF troop apprehends smugglers

SHILLONG: On receiving specific inputs, BSF troops of Bagli deployed in South West Khasi Hills on Thursday apprehended one Indian and one Bangladeshi smuggler.

The smugglers have been identified as Taufiq Ali (23) and Sujan Jamal (18). The arrest was made while they were trying to infiltrate into India from Bangladesh.

In another incident, on Thursday, BSF troops of Tungichar in South West Garo Hills apprehended one Indian smuggler identified as Sohijul Miya (30) while he was trying to exfiltrate into Bangladesh.

Similarly, BSF sleuths of Baghmara apprehended two Bangladeshi illegal immigrants identified as Manash Sangma (52) and Ashish Sangma (30) while they were infiltrating from Bangladesh to India.

During preliminary questioning, apprehended Bangladeshi illegal immigrants revealed that they intended to go to Nangalbibra coal mines area in South Garo Hills, to work as labourers.

Apprehended persons and seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further disposal and legal action as per law of the land.
