Agartala: Violence affected opposition supporters led by Tripura Pradesh congress president Sudip Roy Barman have met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar Friday night at his residence and threatened him to gherao unless CPI-M’s atrocities is stopped.

Mr Roy Barman accused Mr Sarkar of instigating the party cadres in different public gathering stating despite a huge development across the state why 48 percent of people voted for congress and it was not supposed to be.

“As many as 10 congress workers were killed, more than a thousand houses of opposition supporters and party offices were gutted and a few thousands of congressmen still are on run under terror tactics for a month,” Mr Roy Barman said.

He, however, alleged that the unruly CPI-M activists had attacked the house of Sajal Biswas of Khayerpur in outskirt of Agartala on March 28 night and also set ablaze of his house and the fire service crews were prevented to control the fire and in attack three fire service personnel had been injured.

Mr Biswas and two of his younger brothers had been absconding after announcement of the result last month and only on the day of incident they returned home but a few hours of their arrival, the miscreants set five houses of them on fire after looting the valuables.

As many as 12 domestic animals were charred to death but family members including four children had been narrowly escaped from the houses at night and saved life in a nearby jungle, alleged Mr Biswas.

“When fire service came to control the fire the cadres against whom we have lodged complaints beaten them up and DSP’s vehicle was also attacked and he saved himself on run,” he alleged adding that after came to power in 2003 CPI-M cadres killed his elder brother Dipak Biswas only because they worked for congress party.

“We are not satisfied and made him (the CM) very clear to gherao him besides, civil movements across the state if the situation is not improved”, said Baptu Chakraborty, congress candidate of Khayerpur and youth congress leader. (UNI)
