JOWAI: The All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation (AJYWO) has on Friday submitted its memorandum to the Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma demanding immediate removal of the BSF personnel camping at Khliehriat, the District headquarters of the new East Jaintia Hills District.

The BSF personnel have been camping for a year now at Khliehriat and as alleged; they have been using the PWD quarters as their own.

The AJYWO general secretary, WS Suting informed that there was an agreement that the BSF personnel would stay there for only six months but even after six months, they (BSF) are yet to vacate the PWD quarter.

“We wanted the BSF personnel to be deputed in the border, not in Khliehriat, as camping in Khliehriat does not serve the purpose” the JYF president said.

The official quarter of the PWD is very important as it is located in the District head-quarters. Khliehriat is a newly created district and still lacks many things. The site PWD quarter is supposed to be upgraded to main PWD Office and its various divisions.

“Market complex can also be constructed in the area, if the PWD has any other option to set up its new office building”, the AJYWO said.

The AJYWO in it memo urged the Chief Minister to immediately remove the BSF personnel from the area.

“We also urged the local MLA, the EE PWD, Central Division and other concerned authority to look into the matter seriously else we have no other options but to take our own course of action”, the AJYWO concluded.
