SHILLONG: Amidst fanfare and excitement, the students of St Edmund’s School and St Anthony’s Junior School took part in the annual school sports day at the respective school premises here on Friday.
Like every year, the annual sports day of St Edmund’s School saw active participation from several schools in the city.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, local MLA, Ampareen Lyngdoh called upon the parents to identify the skills possessed by the children which could go a long way in shaping their careers. In the various competitions, St. Edmund’s A team won the inter-school relay for boys while the inter-school relay for girls was bagged by St Mary’s. KC secondary school and St Edmund’s B team secured the second and third place respectively.
The best athlete award went to Damanki Rymbai who was also felicitated with a special award sponsored by the 1983-84 batch of ex-students who also attended the event.
Meanwhile, the small lads of St Anthony’s Junior School on Friday also participated in the various activities with utmost interest and enthusiasm. Taking part in the drill display and other activities, the young boys uniformly clad in their colourful attires, delighted the crowd.
Thomas Jone school, Nongstoin: Sports meet culminates
The two-day sports meet organized by Thomas Jone school Nongstoin culminated on Friday. Nongstoin MDC, L G Nongsiej and S Syiemlieh and BDO of Nongstoin were the chief guest and the guest of honour respectively at the valedictory function.
The athletic meet was divided into three categories viz. LP school, Upper Primary School and the Secondary school.
