SHILLONG: The UDP will meet on Saturday to finalise the name of the candidate to contest the Rajya Sabha bye-election scheduled on April 19.

UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh on Friday said many UDP members have expressed their keenness to enter the contest for the vacant seat in the Upper House of Parliament. He, however, did not divulge the names of the aspirants.

The Congress has proposed senior Congress leader Wansuk Syiem as its nominee to contest the seat.
