SHILLONG: The Secretariat Administration Department (SAD) Minister Deborah Marak has said that the State Government has not yet considered the removal of the Access Control Sytem (ACS) from the Secretariat.

The FKJGP had earlier demanded the removal of the ACS security system from the Secretariat following the arrest of CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing after she forcibly entered the Main Secretariat.

Reacting to a query, she said that the particular entrance from where Agnes Kharshiing was trying to enter the Secretariat was meant only for Government employees and officers and moreover it was a no visitors’ day.

Kharshiing was arrested following an FIR filed by the Meghalaya Secretariat Administrative Department (SAD) Deputy Secretary E Lyngdoh alleging that the CSWO president forcibly entered the Main Secretariat building along with three other women without proper authorisation on March 20.

However, later she was granted bail by a city court.

“We are concerned about the security of the Secretariat as it is highly protected area,” she added.

It may be mentioned that the RTI activist was booked under section 353 (Use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty), 447 (punishment for criminal trespass) and 180 of the Indian Penal Code. (By Our Reporter)
