SHILLONG: UDP Mawlai legislator Embhah Syiemlieh has urged the Government to shift the Marten dumping ground in Mawiong to the location which stays far from human habitation.

“The presence of this dumping ground is affecting the health of the people who are residing adjacent to this ground,” Syiemlieh said.

He said that the people who are visiting in the State are having a negative impression about the State due to the stench coming out of this dumping ground especially when it is located at Mawlai which is the gateway of Shillong.

Call against liquor licence

Meanwhile, the UDP legislator also called upon the Government not to issue any fresh liquor store license even as asking the Government to take all possible to ensure that there is no presence of liquor shop near educational institutions and places of worship.

ILP demanded

While insisting that Meghalaya should not be considered as the dumping place for illegal immigrant, he urged the Government to implement the ILP to safeguard the interest of the local indigenous population.
