SHILLONG: In line with the slogan, music is a Universal language that caters to all ages and communities, the Skratch entertainment will organise its first coalition project in the State, an event that will witness an amalgamation of Dj’ing and live production, live bands, rappers, freestyle challenge and shows to promote peace, love and unity.
A sub group of Insomnia, the Skratch entertainment will hold its first ever event in the hill-state at Orchid Lake Resort, Umiam on April 20 from 1pm till 10pm. The project is estimated at a total amount of Rs 3.5 lakhs while expecting a turn-out of over 800-1000 people on the day of the event.
Elaborating on the objective of the event, Skratch entertainment co-founder Hesper Millian Wahlang said that the event is based on peace, love and unity and aimed at promoting electronic dance music (EDM) among the population, to provide a platform for talented musicians and to encourage upcoming musicians to pursue their dreams.
Citing reasons of choosing Shillong as a location for this event, Wahlang said “Shillong is a centre of education for north east and has a huge population of youth from all over the north and being known as the ‘Rock capital of India’, the capital city has a large number of music lovers, talented musicians and a very profound taste for music.”
Highlighting on the security aspect, event manager and coordinator Catherine Kyndiah ensured that a full-proof security is being put into place to prevent any commotion inside and outside the venue. “The traffic police have been called upon to handle the traffic from Mawlai till Orchid Lake to prevent traffic jam along the highway”, she added.
She also mentioned that they have been intimating the Ri Bhoi police and held talks with the local NGOs, Ri Bhoi Youth Federation to ensure that the event takes off in a smooth manner with no disruption. “There will be bouncers and security along with the organizers to ensure the safety of the crowd as well as the artists.
“No alcohol will be allowed to be carried inside the venue and checking will be conducting at every entry points”, she said even as she stated that drinks will be provided inside the venue but the same will be sold at a slight higher price to ensure that no persons takes advantage of a low or market rate of alcohol.
Expecting a change in the brand image through this event partnership, Wahlang said “Through this partnership, we would gain an increase in the brand loyalty.”
Collaborating with the Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum (MTDF), the event will see artists like Poncho from Blaque from Bangalore, Eratic from Delhi and Mrinal and Elton from Shillong. Live bands like Toxic Taquila and UN Zenith will also be playing.
