SHILLONG: As many as 32 teams from Shillong battled it out at the Polo Grounds on Friday, in the Aircel Five A Side Football Tournament, organised by Aircel in association with Shillong Lajong Football Club.
16 teams were knocked out from the first round and the second round resumed after lunch break. The second round stages proved to be tough for all the teams and some games had to be decided by penalty shoot outs.
Eight teams will return on Sunday to play the quarter finals of the tournament. The semi finals and final will also be played on the same day.
The winning team will get a cash award of Rs 2 lakh along with the trophy. The tournament will also be held in Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Assam.
