Meghalaya shines at Natl Games for the Deaf

SHILLONG: In a commendable performance, the Meghalaya Sports Council of the Deaf won four gold medals, six silver and bronze medals respectively in the XVIIIth National Games for the Deaf held at Aurangabad, Maharashtra from April 1-5.

Organised by The All India Sports Council of the Deaf, the event saw participants competing in disciplines like athletics, badminton, table tennis, swimming, wrestling etc.

Nearly one thousand deaf sports men and women from 25 States and Union Territories of the country participated in the event.

For Meghalaya, Md Syed Aziz won the Gold in discus throw, junior men category, while Evagracia grabbed the honour in junior women category. Sinitylutmon won the Gold in javelin throw, junior women category. Sinitylutmon, Evagracia, Luisa Kajur and Tipkyndiang Sohklet won the Gold in 4*400m relay.
