JOWAI: The Central Governing Body of the All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation (AJYWO) on Saturday lodged a complaint with the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), Meghalaya against the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the Directorate of Mineral Resources for failing to provide detailed reports filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

The AJYWO through it vice president, Comanderful Sana has sought some information under the RTI Act through the PIO Forest Department of the JHADC.

The AJYWO sought information regarding the annual assessment imposed against various cement plants in East Jaintia Hills District by the Forest Department of the JHADC and also the detailed utilization of revenue collected from Cement plants.

The PIO, Forest Department of the JHADC in his reply stated that revenue from Cement Plants is not collected by the Forest Department, JHADC and since the revenue is being collected by the Directorate of Mineral Resources, the RTI application filed by the AJYWO was forwarded to the PIO, DMR.

“Now two and half months gone, the PIO DMR has not provide us any information”, AJYWO chief, MH Dkhar said adding that such irresponsible act on the part of the PIO DMR has forced the organization to lodge a complaint against him with the CIC and prayed that legal action be taken against the PIO DMR.
