SHILLONG: An alert Amblistar Sunn denied two clear chances for Bhawani-pore FC to help his team Rangdajied United FC claim a 1-0 victory on Monday afternoon in the opening match of the second leg of the 2nd Division I-League here at Bangalore Football Stadium.

Rangdajied now have seven points from six matches.

In the other match of the day, Langsning FC came from behind to draw with Mohammedan Sporting 1-1.

Playing a seesaw first half, Rangdajied broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute of the game when Babatunde Ayomide neatly headed Nagen Tamang’s well measured volley from the right flank into the net.

Crossing over, the Shillong team missed as many as six open chances.

In the 60th minute skip-per Resttom Khriam carried the ball from the halfway line into the rivals’ goal area and crossed the ball for Babatunde, who failed to connect with the ball.

The second occasion was in the 80th minute when Babatunde set the ball for Jeribe Kelechi, who failed to convert with only the goalie in front of him.

Bhawanipore also had their chances but Rangdajied’s defence line saved the day.

In the 67th minute Jose Ramirez Barreto took a powerful shot that was cleared by Sunn. The ball re-bounded to Hudson Lima Silva, whose attempt was denied by custodian Shambhu Mistry.

In the 76th minute Barreto’s shot beat Mistry but Sunn reached quickly to clear it a few inches before the ball cross the goal line.

Meanwhile, Langsning came from behind to hold table toppers Mohammedan 1-1 in the second match of the day.

With this result Langsning have eight points while Mohammedan are at the top with eleven.

Langsning were better in ball possession but wasted the scoring opportunities that came their way.

In the 30th minute Mohammedan got an opportunity when Noushad K set the ball for their Korean player Wi Hyo-jun, who made no mistake to head the ball home.

Changing over, Langsning’s boys built up their raids in the opponents’ goalmouth but failed to convert any chances except the one in the 59th minute when Joel Sunday Ayeni dribble passing three defenders to equalises.

Had Langsning been able to beat Mohammedan they would have been sharing the top spot along with the Kolkata side.

Langsning will now take on Bhawanipore on Thursday while Rangdajied will clash with Mumbai Tigers on Friday.
