IGNOU anniversary

IGNOU Regional Centre Shillong established as the first IGNOU Regional Centre in the North East Region completed ’25 years of existence’ on April 16, 2013. On this occasion, the staff of the IGNOU Regional Centre Shillong extended heartfelt gratitude to all the Heads of the host institutions of IGNOU Learners Support Centres, etc. for their dedication and untiring services through Open and Distance Learning.

Grand Council of Chiefs

The Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, will meet at 11 AM, on April 19 , at Lumjingsuk, Demthring, Shillong to discuss on matters arising from the letter from KHADC and Ministry Home Affairs, Govt of India, relating to the proposed Sixth Schedule Amendment Bill 2012 to the Constitution of India.

RBI camp

The Reserve Bank of India recently organized a Financial Outreach Camp in Laitmawsiang Village under Khatarshnong-Litkhroh C & RD Block. The objective of the programme was to enable the general public gain access to banking/financial services and spreading awareness on financial literacy, particularly, the importance of banking for economic development. Coins and note exchange facilities were provided in the camps.

Dorbar meet

The meeting of the Dorbar Shnong Bishnupur Kench’s Trace will be held on April 20 at Deba Kumar Memorial Hall, Bishnupur.

Office bearers

The Dorbar Dong Lummawrie, Laitumkhrah held on April 13 elected new office bearers for a term of two years. Elected under the supervision of the three headmen and the secretary of the Laitumkhrah Dorbar Shnong Pyllun, the members include B. Myrthong as the headman, N. Hynniewta, secretary, A. Langstieh, treasurer, Kevin Diengdoh, block in-charge and five executive members.

Talent hunt

The Management of Kingdom Talent Hunt has made some changes with regards to the competition. As per the change, number of contestants has been altered from 4-6 members to 2-6 members besides other changes.

LJP appeal

The Lok Jan Shakti Party has urged the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills to ensure that the eligible citizens of Shillong are provided with the SC and OBC certificates.
