UALA formation is Norrok’s personal decision: ANVC-B Chief

 SHILLONG: ANVC-B chairman Rimpu N Marak on Wednesday said that the decision of Norrok X Momin to form the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) is his own personal prerogative.

Speaking to The Shillong Times here, Marak said,” He should take responsibility for his cadres even as we tried to get him back for the peace settlement.”

He however expressed doubts over the media reports stating that may be someone else is using his name.

The newly floated UALA headed by Norrok X Momin, whose real name is Singbirth N Marak, has accused the ANVC-B leadership headed by Rimpu N Marak and military chief Mukosh Marak of aligning with the Rabha Hasong leadership in Assam to merge the Garo inhabited areas into the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council against the inhabitants wishes.

However, Rimpu Marak said that the outfit would not oppose the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council elections schedule to be held next month.

“We will not oppose this as it will bring differences between the tribals and we want unity between the tribals be it tribals of Assam or Meghalaya,” Marak said.

It may be mentioned that ANVC-B chairman Rimpu Marak had claimed in a section of the media that his action commander Norrok remains a part of the outfit despite reports indicating otherwise.
