SHILLONG: Laban Bengalee Boys Higher Secondary School thrash Shillong Secondary School by 110 runs while Jail Road Higher Secondary School got the better of Garo Union School in the league matches of the 5th Babu Ondromoni Dkhar Memorial (Under-19) Inter School Cricket Tournament 2013 at the Cricket Grounds, Polo on Friday. In the first match, Shillong Secondary won the toss and elected to field. The Bengalee Boys batters piled up a competitive total of 163 for the loss of six wickets in 23 overs. Kaushik scored a brilliant 89 off 69 balls while Babu Deb grabbed 2 wickets for 19 runs. In reply Shillong Secondary was bundled out for a paltry 53 in 14.5 overs. Suraj was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 5 for 15 runs. In the second match, Garo Union won the toss and elected to field, Jail Road School batted first scoring 158 for the loss of six wickets in 25 overs. Md Washid scored 36 runs from 24 balls while Joash Sangma took two wickets for 11 runs. In reply Garo Union managed 152 runs for the loss 9 wickets in 25 overs falling six runs short of the target. Luther Sangma scored 32 runs off 50balls while Md Washid took four wickets for 13 runs.
First Inter-School Athletic Meet at Ampati

TURA: As many as 19 schools and over 300 athletes participated in the 1st Inter-School Athletic Meet for South West Garo Hills District organised by the District Sports Office at Ampati playground recently. PK Boro, MCS, ADM, Ampati graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest while Mary T Sangma, MCS, EAC, Ampati attended the closing ceremony. In the Under-19 boys category the team from Suluguri Secondary School was judged the winner while Nogorpara Deficit Secondary School was the runner-up. In the Under-19 girls category Bandalkona Secondary School team was judged the winner and Nogorpara Deficit Secondary School was the runner-up. Sanjit M Sangma of Bandalkona Secondary School (U-19 boys), Lotika Kajong of Suluguri Secondary School (U-19 Girls), Chengrim N Marak of Bandalkona Secondary School (U-17 Boys) and Jellina M Marak of Bandalkona Secondary School (U-17 Girls) won the title of best athletes.
