SHILLONG: The Organising Committee of the Meghalaya Boxing Association Night Fight has announced that it will hold the MBA Night Fight on May 23-24 in Shillong.

The main aim of the competition is to encourage young and talented boxers of the state to work hard and prepare them for higher competition, Larry Kharpran, the organising secretary, said through a press release.

Two weight categories will be contested on May 23-24: the 52kg and 56kg.

The dates and venue for additional weight categories will be announced by the Association at a later date.

Those between the ages of 16 and 40 years are eligible to compete.

For more information, those interested can call 9863113325/9863069190 or visit the training centre of the MBA at JN Stadium (5th Ground), Polo from 4pm to 6pm everyday.

The last date for registra-tion in the 52kg and 56kg categories will be April 30.

A cash prize and champion’s belt will be awarded to the winner of each weight category.

The rules and regulations for the competition will be announced later by the Organising Committee.
