SHILLONG: The HSPDP will go for a revamp ahead of the Autonomous District Council (ADC) election scheduled next year.

Admitting that the party has a strong base only in West Khasi Hills and parts of South West Khasi Hills, HSPDP spokesperson G Nonglong said that they would try to expand their reach in Khasi-Jaintia Hills by way of strengthening the frontal wing and ground work for the same has already begun. “At the moment, our immediate focus is on the upcoming MDC election,” Nonglong told reporters after the party’s general council meeting recently.

Stating that they are planning to contest from all the 30 MDC constituencies in KHADC, he said that the party would also like to field as many constituencies as possible in JHADC. However, the party spokesperson made it clear that the HSPDP would not compromise on the quality of the candidate in its endeavour to field ontestants in maximum number of constituencies.
