SHILLONG: The Nepalese residents of Lapalang near Rynjah have obstructed the construction of the internal road which was taken up in the locality on Saturday on grounds that the same would damage their houses.

The Lapalang Dorbar Shnong had given the permission to one Amika Mylliemumlong to construct the road which would lead to her land in the locality.

According to sources, the Dorbar Shnong had taken all possible measures while surveying the land for construction of the road to ensure that none of the houses are affected. However, the Nepalese residents obstructed the construction claiming that the same would threaten their houses. “Arguments followed between Mylliemumlong and the Nepalese which compelled the members of the Dorbar Shnong to ask the police to intervene in the matter,” sources said. When contacted, police informed that a meeting of both the parties has been called at Rynjah police station on Monday to settle the matter amicably.
