NONGSTOIN: Nongstoin Pharmacy, led by Lorshon Marbaniang on Saturday organised a free Medical camp at Porla relief camp for the victims of the April 10 cyclonic storm at Mawshynrut, West Khasi Hills District.

The medical camp was organised with the help of the DMHO West Khasi Hills.

Prior to the medical camp, a short meeting was convened where one of the visiting doctors Dr Paul A Lyngdoh explained the measures to be taken after a storm.

Dr Lyngdoh informed that more people died after the storm than during the storm because of various diseases.

Dr Lyngdoh is a doctor from Mawthapdah in South West Khasi Hills. To help those afflicted by the storm Dr Lyngdoh took time off and came to help the victims.

Most of the victims at Porla are infants and are mostly suffering from fever and dysentery. Speaking to The Shillong Times, Ba- Ailang, owner of Nongstoin Pharmacy said, “Since the storm hit these areas, we had seen many relief measures provided. However, we felt that they needed medical assistance and we took the initiative ourselves.”
