SHILLONG: The FKJGP has demanded the immediate withdrawal of the FIR filed against its Jaintia Hills president, Tuesday Lytep, by cement plants there.

In a statement issued here on Monday, FKJGP president, Jo Marwein said that the three cements plants– M/s Cement manufacture Co LTD (Star Cement), M/s Meghalaya Cement LTD (TOPCEM) and Dalmia Cement had filed the FIR against Lytep to hush the various demands put ahead by the Federation on April 26.

“We had asked the cement plants to raise the price of coal, reduce the rate of the cement in the State and also to provide jobs to the local youth in compliance with the provisions laid down in the Industrial Policy besides calling for the construction of schools, hospitals and community halls in the area and making provision for clean drinking water in the adjoining areas,” Marwein said while adding that due to the cement plants’ inability to comply with these demands, they adopted the ‘dirty strategy’ of filing an FIR against Lytep, alleging that he had threatened the owners of these plants.

While asking the cement plants to fulfill the various demands of the federation, Marwein called for the withdrawal of the FIR against Lytep at the earliest.
