SHILLONG: Donny Ranee, a member of the Meghalaya Association of Kickboxing Organisations (MAKO), has been elected as the vice-president of the newly formed National Kickboxing Federation of India (NKFI), which was recognised by the World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO)-ASIA.
The formation of a new body came after WAKO-ASIA’s board de-recognised the Indian Association of Kickboxing Organizations (IAKO), headed by SS Harichandran as president following his non-cooperation in implementing and practicing the rules and regulations directed to him by WAKO-ASIA and WAKO.
In a meeting held recently in New Delhi by WAKO-ASIA, which was attended by members from all over the country, the first office bearers of NKFI were elected with CA Tamboli from Maharashtra as its president.
The NKFI has been given the recognition and the power by WAKO-ASIA to conduct the first selection of players in Kolkata on April 30-May 1 to represent the country in the forthcoming 4th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games to be held in Korea this month.
MAKO is also now affiliated to NKFI.
