SHILLONG: The State Crime Investigation Department (CID), which has been entrusted the task of inquiring into the CMJ University scam, has sealed the CMJ Faculty of Technology campus at Khanapara.

Speaking to The Shillong Times, IGP (CID), BR Rana, informed that the CID has entrusted senior and experienced officers to conduct the probe the matter and the officials were working expeditiously to reach into the depth of the matter.

When asked about the status of the inquiry, Rana informed that the department is going through all the records of the University and has already sealed the two CMJ premises located in Shillong and Khanapara.

Ri Bhoi Superintendent of Police CVS Reddy also confirmed that the CID has sealed the CMJ office at Khanapara which was functioning from an under-construction building.

Rana also quelled doubts over the ability of the CID to ensure that the case reaches its logical conclusion, considering that the probe agency has a huge backlog of pending cases.

“The case will be inquired expeditiously,” he asserted, even though he refused to give any specific timeline for completion of the probe.
