Fire at power station

 SHILLONG: In another jolt to the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL), a power station of the corporation situated at Kyrdemkulai caught fire on Tuesday morning.

According to Police, the incident ocurred due to excessive voltage.

Police sources informed that various equipments like wires and other mechanical equipments were damaged in the incident and the estimated loss is around Rs 5 lakh. Though the fire spread at a rapid pace, the MeECL officials managed to put it off.

Meanwhile, a minor fire erupted in Suruchi hotel at Khyndai Lad on Tuesday evening. The fire erupted due to a short circuit and was extinguished before the arrival of the fire tenders.
