Impersonating MeECL official

People impersonating as MeECL employees allegedly collected over Rs 23000 from residents of Tura.

In the first case, one Saili R. Marak of Lower Sunny Hills, Tura, lodged a complaint that on April 28 one Kisan B. Marak who claimed to be an employee of MeECL, collected Rs. 9,500 from him on account of energy consumption.

In the second case, a woman identified as Krochilda N. Marak and others of Matchakolgre, Tura lodged a complaint at Tura police station that on March 18, one Kisan B. Marak who impersonated as an employee of MeECL, collected Rs. 13,700 from the complainants on account of energy consumption.

Police are conducting inquiries into the cases.

Rape attempt

On May 6 at around 4 pm, one woman (24) boarded a local taxi from Mawlonghat, Shillong and on reaching Laitkor (EKH), one Baba attempted to rape her. However, she managed to escape. Matter is under enquiry.

One shot dead

On the night of May 4, unidentified armed miscreants shot dead one Jinath Sangma (36) at Darechikgre (WGH).

Theft

lOne Englke N. Marak lodged a complaint at Nangalbibra PS that on May 4 at around 11.15 pm, unidentified miscreants numbering 2 to 3 went to his house at Jadigittim Nangalbibra (SGH) and looted Rs. 2 lakh and one mobile phone.

lOn the night of May 1, unknown miscreants stole Rs. 80,000/-, gold ornaments and other articles valued around Rs. 2 lakh from the house of one Thapan Biswas at New Kadamsali (WGH).

lOne Ngamonlang Bamon lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that on April 28 at around 9.30 pm, five persons, Md. Samsu Uddin, Md. Abdul Kalam, Md. Kairul Islam, Md. Kumar Uddin and Md. Sariful Islam stole parts of a coal extractor machine from Taklong Coal Quarry (EJH).

lDelayed reports stated that on March 27 night, unknown miscreants stole Rs. 11,56,000 belonging to one Md. Joynal Hoque from a house at Cement Bazar, Latyrke (EJH).

Threat

One Bonny Jyrwa lodged a complaint that on April 25, he was arrested in connection with a theft case under Rynjah PS. While he was in the lock-up of Nongmensong OP, the complainant of the above case, Maduh Suting threatened him with dire consequences.
