SHILLONG: Taking note of the Adhoc appointees in the various Departments of the State government, the CSWO on Thursday petitioned the Chief Secretary WMS Pariat to take up the matter urgently.

In a letter shot off to the Chief Secretary, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that the matter should be treated as urgent or else the NGO will take those in Governance to court for abuse of power and for their unconstitutional approaches.

According to Kharshiing, all Adhoc Appointees in the various Departments of the State Government must be immediately removed.

“There are many Adhoc appointees who have entered Government service, through the back door, without complying with the rules and procedures laid down, by the State Government thereby depriving many genuine candidates who have applied for jobs in the prescribed norms, laid down by the Government,” the letter stated.

The NGO also asked the State Chief Secretary to initiate immediate action and to direct all Heads of Departments and Directorates falling under the Government to immediately remove all Adhoc appointees, so as to make way for the legitimate appointment of the candidates that have duly applied for the various jobs advertised, and for appointing those successful candidates.

Demanding preparation of strategy for advertising the posts to the various departments and directorates so that there is no confusion and no excess of posts are advertised for, the CSWO felt that immediate names should be taken from DSC or from the waiting lists when there is an unexpected vacancy and not to push in relatives of ministers and officers so that the ordinary candidates who have no political patronage will be able to get jobs as any denial is highly unconstitutional.
