SHILLONG: The NEC top functionaries are in search of as many as eight missing files containing information on the construction of NEC office cum guest house complex here, worth several crores of rupees.

As per the recent letter written by Director, Administration, David Lalmalsawma, the files went missing from Room no. 504.

“These files contain information on the construction of the NEC office complex and other issues. The Central Vigilance Commission desires some information immediately be furnished,” the letter said.

As the files are not traceable, the Director Administration has also instructed his Private Secretary RN Adhyapak and D Sharma, Assistant, Nazarat Section, to check all the rooms and almirahs immediately to locate the files. The copy of the letters was also sent to all sectors of the NEC.

It is yet to be known what are the immediate reasons which compelled the Central Vigilance Commission to call for records of the construction of the NEC office complex.

Since only matters related to alleged corruption cases are dealt by the Central Vigilance Commission, it is being presumed that the investigation is focused on the manner in which money was spent for the construction of the office complex.
