SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Peoples Human Rights Council (MPHRC) on Thursday urged the Government to constitute a Magisterial Enquiry into all custodial related cases and to report the matter to the National Human Rights Commission.

Referring to the suicide case that took place inside the police Lock-up at Khliehriat Police Station where an accused identified as Roi Simpli (20) allegedly hung himself, the MPHRC strongly urged for departmental proceedings in this matter with a view to prosecuting the errant police personnel and that, in addition, appropriate disciplinary action should be taken against those responsible for the death.
