SHILLONG: Following up on the arrest of the Deputy Registrar of Chandra Mohan Jha (CMJ) University on Thursday, the State CID on Friday arrested Registrar Mrinal Kanti Deb from the city.

Sources informed that Premlal Rai, the Deputy Registrar, has been admitted in Shillong Civil Hospital after he complained of health problems but the CID believes that the health problem may be a ploy to avoid interrogation.

It is learnt that Director of CMJ University Manjeet Kaur and Human Resource Manager Juban Kharpuri, whose anticipatory bail plea had been rejected by the district court, are said to be ‘missing’.

According to sources, the CID is on the lookout for Chancellor CM Jha.

More arrests are in the offing, the CID said.
