Mukul, Lapang meet Rahul

 SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul and MPCC president DD Lapang on Thursday met AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Thursday and discussed organizational matters related to the Congress party.

The meeting discussed means to strengthen the party and to put up a programme of work to be followed both by the party and the government in the State.

Among the decisions taken were that a report is to be submitted to the AICC every three months, the MPCC will have regular meetings at all levels and improvement of coordination between the party and the government.

Lapang informed Rahul that the party will be strengthened and prepared for the upcoming MDC elections as well as the Parliamentary elections.

Earlier, both Lapang and Dr Sangma had also met AICC president Sonia Gandhi. Meanwhile, Lapang in his capacity as Chairman of the North East Congress Coordination Committee has suggested to the AICC that a senior Central party leader should be appointed as Advisor of the NECCC.

Lapang also informed that a submission in this regard was made to the AICC president for her approval.
