SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers’ Association (MUPSTA) State Level on Friday demanded the School Managing Committee (SMC) to release their arrears immediately.

In a statement issued here on Friday, MUPSTA general secretary Kenneth Shadap said that they received several complaints from the UP teachers that there are many SMC secretaries who have failed to pay the remaining arrear for 3 months from December 2012 till February 2013. He said that the association has received reports that there were SMCs who did not pay arrears which was increased by the government from December 1, 2012. According to him, there were some SMCs who misled the teachers by making them sign on the salary register saying that the money is for the month of March and kept the other half to themselves.

There were allegations by the UP teachers against the secretaries that they had withdrawn even the salary of the teachers from April 2013.
