SHILLONG: The ANVC (B) Chairman, Rimpu Marak has said that the ANVC cadre Wesfield C Marak alias Dakchak, recently arrested by the police, belonged to the Norrok faction and not part of ANVC(B)

Dakchak was arrested by the police while he was extorting money from traders of Williamnagar market last Friday. A pistol, ammunition and Rs 60,000 were recovered from him.

Though the cadre told the police that he was a member of ANVC-B, its Chairman Rimpu said that that he was very much part of the Norrok faction of ANVC.

“The police can check the call records of Dakchak to verify his interaction with Norrok to know the links”, Rimpu said.

Moreover, the laptop and printer of Norrok is infact handled by Dakchak, he added.

Rimpu also revealed that it was Dakchak also known as Wawai who opened a facebook account for Norrok from a shop in Williamanagar and the former is also engaged in releasing press statements to the media on behalf of Norrok.

“Our data shows that Dakchak collects money from Ampati, Phulbari, Garobadha and Williamnagar in our name “, he added.

The ANVC (B) chief asked police to interrogate Dakchak properly to find out the facts.
