Kohima: The Nagaland Congress has alleged financial mismanagement of the State by the DAN III and questioned the Naga Peoples Front led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland Government for creating a huge deficit, which it stated had ‘created a record for a small state like Nagaland’.

In a statement, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee Media Cell has pointed to the borrowing from open market and financial institutions well above the permissible limits; spending huge capital to service the debts and high interest rates and what it alleged was ‘hoarding a staggering amount of over 648 Crores in Civil Deposit which has attracted the attention of the Planning Commission leading to delay in finalisation of the Annual Plan Outlay.

The Media Cell has issued a separate list of the ‘staggering amount kept in Civil Deposit’. The Departments will be at fault for issuing utilisation certificate and illegal for the Government to ask for utilisation certificate from the departments as brought earlier by the NPCC.

The NPCC has pointed out that thousands of crores of rupees have been pumped in by the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre for the past decade, but the work is yet to be replicated on ground and remains only on paper’. (UNI)
