City traffic branch realizes fine of Rs 17,000

 SHILLONG: The Shillong Traffic Police (STP) on Monday informed that the department has been able to realize a fine amount of Rs 17, 000 from 47 vehicles for violating the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act during the continuous checking conducted by the traffic police from May 5 till 11.

Within these seven days, the STP, during routine checking, has detected as many as 47 cases, out of which 35 cases pertain to attachment of High-intensity discharge lamps (HID lamps) wherein Rs 12, 300 was the fine amount realized and 12 other cases pertaining to the attachment of modified silencers in which an amount of Rs 4,700 was realized as fine.

According to the STP, they will start seizing such vehicles and take up cases for continued violation of MV Act inspite of all warnings.
