SHILLONG: The HSPDP enrollment drive in East Khasi Hills received an overwhelming response with over a hundred people representing various age groups joining the party.

The unique feature of the enrollment drive which was held at Art and Culture Hall in State Central Library on Wednesday was the enrollment of many college teachers.

“I do not think there is any other regional political party in the State who has managed to stick to its root like the HSPDP. The HSPDP supremo Hoping Stone Lyngdoh has not allowed the basic principles of the party to shake up,” a college teacher said.

Besides the college teachers, a prominent personality who joined the party is former FKJGP president Emlang Lytan.

‘I have joined the HSPDP since I do not have any confidence on any other political parties,” the former FKJGP president said while also hoping that the coming of Nongkrem legislator Ardent Miller Basiawmoit would infuse a new spirit into the party to enable the workers to work harder for the betterment of the local indigenous population.

The other prominent people joining the HSPDP are Sanker Dev College Physic lecturer Prof P Syiemlieh, Lady Keane physics lecturer Prof Louis Pyngrope, St Anthony’s College political science lecturer Dr KH Shen, retired Electronics department Professor of St Edmund’s College Wanbell Passah and Khasi Jaintia Welfare Association secretary SS Rynjah.
