Relief Fund

The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) Engineers’ Association recently handed over Rs 1 lakh towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to provide relief and rehabilitation to the recent cyclone hit victims throughout the state.

Panel discussion

The Meghalaya Economics Association in collaboration with the Department of Economics, St Anthony’s College Shillong will organise a panel discussion on the theme ‘Inner-Line permit and its Economic Implications in Meghalaya’ on May 18 at the premises of the college at 1pm.

Gratitude

The Catholic Church, Nongkrem has extended their gratitude and thanksgiving to the Lt Col HS Seeray, Assam Rifles, Laitkor for his cooperation and helping hands time and again especially during the dedication of Catholic Church building on April 28. They prayed that the healthy and pleasant relationship between Assam Rifles, Laitkor and the people of Nongkrem village will continue.

Workshop

lThe science departments of Lady Keane College, Shillong are organising a science workshop for colleges’ teachers under Star College scheme, sponsored by DBT, Government of India from May 22 to 30 in the college auditorium. The deputy commissioner of East Khasi Hills Sanjay Goyal will be present as the chief guest at the inaugural function on May 22 at 9.15am.

lBotanical Survey of India- Eastern Regional Centre, Shillong is organising a one-day workshop at the centre on May 22 followed by open house on May 23 to popularize biodiversity and its importance among the students.

Meeting

The Stakeholders’ meeting on the draft state disaster management plan organised by the state disaster management authority will be held at Orchid Lake Resort, Umiam on May 17 at 11am.

Eye Camp

6-Khliehriat Assembly Youth Congress organised a free eye camp in collaboration with Bansara Eye Care Centre, Shillong at Khliehriat West,East Jaintia Hills on April 17. As many as 200 people attended the free eye screening camp.

Book release

Educational Foundation will release the Exposition on The Book of Revelation in Khasi by Rev. Prosper Ryntathiang on May 18 at 2 PM at its premises in Block 2, Pynthorbah.
