JHTOA sets 20-day deadline to repair NH-44

JOWAI: The Jaintia Hills Trucks Owners’ Association (JHTOA) has set a 20-day deadline for the State Government to repair the National Highway-44 from Jowai Police Point to Malidor in East Jaintia Hills.

“This deadline is particularly meant for the PWD and if the government fails to respond (to our demand) on time, we will resort to a strong course of action”, JHTOA President, Balen Thubru said.

“Vehicles owners are paying road taxes besides other taxes directly to the State Government. Despite this, they are a neglected lot”, Thubru lamented.

The JHTOA also requested both the district administrations of East and West Jaintia Hills Districts to look into the matter seriously.

The improper road condition all along the NH-44 from Jowai to Malidor has badly affected traders, transporters, vehicles owners and the general public.
