Appreciation

The Myrthong Clan has expressed appreciation and pride in the feat achieved by Wansuk Myrthong, the first female from Meghalaya to scale the Mount Everest on May 18. Myrthong is the fourth child of Rossendro Rynjah and Anjela Myrthong who are residents of Lumparing.

Awareness programme

The Youth Department, Church of God (M&A) will observe World No-Tobacco Day on May 31. An awareness programme on the ill effects of tobacco will be held at the Centenary Hall, Church of God at Qualapatty from 11am to 1pm.

Conference

The Trained Nurses Association of India, Meghalaya state branch will organise the IX Biennial State student Nurses associates’ conference from May 28 to 31. The inaugural function of the conference will be held on May 29 at 11am at Woodland Institute of Nursing Laitkor and Health Minister AL Hek will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Film Fest

A Film Fest on Tangkhul Culture, an initiative of filmmakers to promote dying culture of indigenous people, will be held with the support of the Indian Council for Cultural Relation and distirct administration of Ukhrul, Manipur at NEC auditorium on June 1.

Clarification

In relation to a news item published in the daily on May 28 under the caption, ‘Meghalaya Crime Update’ on the kidnapping of a 17-year-old girl from Pine Mount School on May 19, Pine Mount School has clarified that no Pine Mount student was kidnapped from the school on that day.

Meeting

Results

Class XII students of K V EAC Upper Shillong has registered 100 per cent pass percentage in CBSE Board Examination 2013 with no compartment in any subject.Out of 36 students of Science stream 35 secured 1st division,out of 28 students of Commerce stream 26 got first division and out of 32 students of Arts stream 28 got 1st division. Arijit Chakraborty of science stream topped the list with 93.4%.
