TURA: Condemning the lapse on part of the State Police that led to the escape of the cop Narul Islam who allegedly raped two minor sisters at Ampati Police Station, the Achik Student’s Welfare Association (ASWA) has called for a two-day dawn to dusk non cooperation movement in Southwest Garo Hills from June 6 to 7.
Irked over the alleged adamant attitude of the government in punishing officers who have committed crimes against the society, the ASWA has demanded the immediate termination of all officials responsible for the escape of the rape accused cop from his staff quarter near Tura Police Station.
Speaking to media persons, ASWA president Augustine R Marak alleged that the government’s adamant attitude in dealing with crimes committed against the people of Garo Hills was evident from the fact that no action has been taken in the rape and murder of a SSA teacher Lt Mamuni Ch
Marak and the abduction of businessman Philip Ch Marak by miscreants from Assam.
The ASWA president alleged that the erring cop Islam had released the six kidnappers arrested at Monabari Police Outpost for the abduction of Phillip Ch Marak.
“We will not remain mum anymore while heinous crimes are being committed against the people of Garo Hills” said the ASWA president.
